Social and Emotional Learning is the foundation of Pennsylvania’s Career-Ready Skills Standards. In this workshop, participants will learn the components of Social-Emotional Learning, which demonstrate that students who have self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and the ability to make responsible decisions can build the skills they need to achieve deeper learning in both academic and societal contexts. Participants will develop techniques for boosting Social-Emotional Learning in their classrooms.
Participants will learn how orienteering can teach Pennsylvania’s Career-Ready Skills by challenging students to move past their comfort zone in a supportive environment. Educators will practice orienteering on an established course that explores Black History in Philadelphia.
