Social & Emotional Learning in Adventure Education

Navigating Students Through Social-Emotional Learning With Orienteering

Students who possess skills for self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship building, and responsible decision-making can build the persistence they need to achieve deeper learning in both academic and societal contexts. Orienteering can teach social-emotional skills by challenging students to move past their comfort zone in a supportive environment. Participants will practice orienteering on an established course and learn strategies to facilitate the activity with students. In addition, participants will develop techniques for boosting social-emotional learning in their classrooms.

Participants can receive Pennsylvania Act 48 hours of professional development.
